    In a bizarre turn of events, when cops nabbed a Hyderabad techie for trying to flee with a stolen

    Cayman 718, he claimed to own the car and threatened them with prominent names. The incident took place after the software engineer spotted the red Porsche at Madhapur’s Star Hotel, the door was unlocked and the key was inside. Although M San Kiran had himself reached the hotel on his motorcycle, he seemingly could not resist the urge and hopped inside the sports car and drove off with it.

    To make matters worse, the Jubilee Hills police department reports that Kiran is in fact a repeat offender.

    The missing Porsche was alerted to the cops after the owner returned to the hotel’s parking lot and found his precious car to have vanished. The owner contacted the security guards and then checked the CCTV footage of the spot. In the footage, an unidentified man was seen sitting in the car and driving it away. Cops immediately reached the spot and started a probe, further inspection of nearby areas identified the car being driven around Madhapur and Jubilee Hills and with timely anticipation, it was intercepted at KBR Park Junction by the traffic police.

    The most daring thing Kiran did after getting arrested, was claiming that the Porsche was owned by him and dropping names of prominent people such as a state cabinet minister, industrialist and a film actor, in a bid to intimidate the cops. However, the cops lawfully arrested the man and using the details of the motorcycle that was abandoned back at the hotel, they contacted the culprit's family. Cops say that Kiran has worked in prominent software firms in Hyderabad and earns a fat salary.

    The Porsche Cayman 718 is a rear-wheel drive 2-seater roadster, which has an average ex-showroom value of Rs 1.41 crore in India. It gets Porsche’s 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine which produces 295 hp and 380 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 275 kmph and can go from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds.
